TV says "NO SIGNAL" after storm - Kyle Guilfoil

Most High Definition receivers are hooked up to the tv using an HDMI cable. HDMI or (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) cables carry much data through them. With that being said, it is like a magnet for surges caused by lightning, white outs, etc. Without the proper surge protection this could destroy your HDMI ports on your expensive TV which would cause your tv to say "NO SIGNAL."

We sell Monster Surge protectors at our store cheaper than you can buy them at other stores. They warranty anything plugged into them up to $25,000. Our techs carry them on every van.

Have a solution so theres no problem.

Can I get DIRECTV where I live? - Kyle Guilfoil

Satellite Activations' technicians are highly trained and creative. With that being said, we will do EVERYTHING in our power to get you DIRECTV service in ANY location.

When a satellite technician cannot get a satellite signal; that is called a "no line of sight." This is usually caused by tall structures such as trees or buildings.

At Satellite Activations, we do not use that term. We have one of the highest "line of sight" ratings in the nation.

Let us get you service, FREE of charge.

Can I activate a used recevier? - Kyle Guilfoil

DIRECTV allows the activation of used receivers under the following conditions:

-The used receiver cannot be active on another DIRECTV account
-The used receiver must be a previously owned unit, if the receiver was previously leased on an account it cannot be activated and must be returned to DIRECTV
-The receiver must have a Receiver ID Number, older models without an Receiver ID Number cannot be reactivated because they do not support DIRECTV's current technology

If you meet this criteria, you may or may not need us to order you a new access card. We'll send you a new access card and a postage-paid envelope to return the old card. Please note that there may be a fee for the new card.

Once you receive the new access card and install the receiver call one of our local offices to activate. Make sure to mention that you have pre-owned equipment and want to activate programming with your new access card.

If you cannot install this used receiver yourself, there may or may not be a service call fee for a technician to install this for you.

How do I reset my receiver?. - Kyle Guilfoil

On some DIRECTV receivers there is a reset button inside of the access card door. If your receiver has a reset button, you can simply press it to reset your receiver. If there is not a button inside the access card door or pressing the button does not correct the problem, try these steps to reset your receiver:

-Leave the receiver box on.
-Unplug the receiver from the electrical outlet. (If your receiver's light is still on, you have pulled the wrong plug.)
-Leave the receiver unplugged for 15 seconds.
-Reconnect it to the electrical outlet and return to normal viewing.

SNOW ON YOUR DISH - Andrew Byrd

Should you get a "Searching for Satellite Signal" on your TV and it is heavily snowing outside or it is a wet snow you may not be able to retrieve your signal if there is snow on your dish. If the dish is in an area that is safe to reach you can take a broom and sweep the snow off your dish. However if the dish is not in a place you can safely reach the outage will be short lived and your TV will come back on by itself later. You can always call YOUR local office at 678-928-9100 or in Murphy NC 1-828-516-2111 if you have questions on this issue. We are here for you.

It's Snowing - I have "Searching For Satellite Signal" on my TV - Andrew Byrd

If it is snowing heavily there is a chance you could lose satellite reception briefly. If you lose it for more than 2 hours see if it is possible for you to get the snow off your dish - especially if it is pole mounted. If it is on your roof and not safe to go on the roof then do not go on your roof. Once the snow is removed you should regain reception.

What's HD??? - Jason Haugh

Have you seen the little HDTV icon in the bottom of your television screen when watching certain programs and wondered what that might mean? A lot of us are too busy to keep up with new technology let alone what the terms are. High definition television is one of the newest technology aspects in the last ten years. If you are finally ready to understand HDTV and improve your television watching then you will want to read the information below.

High definition television uses the digital broadcasting signal to produce a high-resolution picture on your television. This means the signal you receive transmits a better quality picture for you to view. In order to receive this signal you need to have a television that will receive the signal. The tube television was not designed to receive a digital picture. You need to have a Plasma or LCD screen in order to receive the signal. When you are able to receive a resolution of 1280×720 pixels you are able to receive a high definition television signal. Pixels in case you are not aware of what make the image.

There are hundreds of pixels in any type of picture or photographic print. You may be familiar with pixels as it applies to prints because when you take a 4×6 print and create an 8×10 print you can see the individual pixels. High definition television was created to give individuals a better experience when watching television as well as the technology that people wanted to create.

If you have a big screen HD television and don't have DIRECTV HD you are missing out!!!!

SNOWY PICTURE OR INPUT ISSUE - Andrew Byrd

2. I have a "snowy" screen OR my TV has "searching for signal" (Don't confuse with "searching for SATELLITE signal". These are two different issues. This help topic pertains only to those having the message "SEARCHING FOR SIGNAL".
*99% of the time the "searching for signal" message means the tv has no signal from the Directv box. This does NOT mean there is not satellite signal from the dish to the directv box. This is usaully an input or source issue. Simply take the original remote that came with your TV and find the INPUT button or the SOURCE button and press it and make sure your TV is on the correct input. The correct input is determined by where your Directv box is connected. If it is connected with an HDMI cable then your correct input would be HDMI1, HDMI2 and so on.
